Chorus to ‘Shake, Rattle, Roll’ May 18-19

Lakeshore Community Chorus plans to “Shake, Rattle and Roll” during its ninth annual spring concerts Saturday, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 19, at 4 p.m. in First Congregational Church, 296 Hoffman St., Saugatuck.
The ensemble, directed by Nancy Plantinga, will present ‘50s and ‘60s “Oldies But Goodies” songs.
Pianist Vivian Boot will accompany the chorus along with Grand Valley State University instrumentalists. “Pastor Sale” Sapienza will narrate and “spin the records.”
Holland Windmill Chorus, an all-male barbershop group directed by Kirk Wood, will join the LCC singing The Beatles’ “When I’m 64.” More fun will come when LCC women blend harmonies on the Andrews Sisters’ “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.”
“As a chorus member for the past eight years, I think this is the most enjoyable music we have ever sung,” said tenor and LCC Board member Dick Hutchins. “These songs remind me of my high school through college years. I think the audience will really enjoy this concert.”
Tickets, at $20 for adults and $10 for students, can be purchased at Scooters Café, 322 Culver St., Saugatuck (cash or check) or by credit card at lakeshorecommunitychorus.org
The LCC will perform in addition Tuesday, May 21, at Freedom Village in Holland. For more information, visit the website above.
