A quick start sparked Saugatuck in its non-league game against Black River on Tuesday, Dec. 18.
The Indians scored 20 points in the first quarter and never trailed in earning the 54-37 victory.
Brad Dunn scored 10 of those first-quarter points on his way to a game-best 20 points. Cooper Myers added 15 points and Wyatt Larsen had seven.
Despite its strong start, Saugatuck led only 26-23 at halftime following a sluggish second quarter
“At the half I talked about attacking the rim and continuing to get the ball inside,” first-year Saugatuck coach Brian Ward said. “We were able to follow that game plan in the third and fourth quarters and were able to push out to a comfortable lead.”
