LCC concerts to feature ‘Holidays Around World’

Lakeshore Community Chorus’ ninth annual Holiday Reflections concerts Dec. 1 and 2 at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts will embody the season’s sprit.

“Holidays Around the World” themed shows will be that Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.

The chorus, directed by co-founder Nancy Plantinga and accompanied by Vivian Boot, will perform selections from 15 countries. They will include traditional carols plus incorporating German, Spanish, Korean, Latin and Swahili languages.

The concert will showcase brass, string and percussion players from Grand Valley State University, with narration by a “much reformed” Ebenezer Scrooge … Saugatuck’s Steve Williford, who has performed in that role in Saugatuck Village Players productions of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” for more than 30 years.

Joining the chorus as guest soloist will be lyric soprano Gracie Potter, daughter of Mary Terzino and Greg Potter, also of Saugatuck.

“I am excited,” said Plantinga, “to be presenting these beautiful choral arrangements, an up-and-coming local soloist, local college student instrumentalists and our communities’ icon Scrooge himself during this holiday extravaganza. .

“You will want to make this a priority event to jump start your holiday spirit,” Plantinga said.

Reserved seat tickets, at $20 for adults and $10 for students, are available through the SCA at sc4a.org or by calling (269) 857-2399.
