Saugatuck 9 Holland Calvary 1
Daniel Marshall was a one-man wrecking crew in Saugatuck’s non-league boys’ soccer showdown with Holland Calvary on Thursday, Aug. 31.
Marshall recorded not one, not two, not three, but four goals in helping the Indians cruise to the 9-1 victory.
The match was stopped due to the mercy rule, which comes into play when a team is leading by eight goals in the second half.
Jimmy Malkowksi joined Marshall with multiple goals, going for two. Owen Quinn, Jon Scheiderer and Alec Hoezee added one goal each.
Quinn also had an assist, as did Gabe Smit, Jared Squire and Joey Antel. Evan Czarnecki checked in with two assists.
With the win, Saugatuck upped its record to 2-3.
Fennville 1 Kalamazoo Christian 2
Six saves from Andy Estrada wasn’t enough to prevent a Fennville loss in a SAC contest with Kalamazoo Christian on Wednesday, Aug. 30.
The Blackhawks fell just short, dropping the game 2-1.
Christian Mendoza-Huynh accounted for the lone Fennville goal. The assist went to Steven Mendoza-Huynh.
